The Roman Catholic Church of St. Johannes Nepomuk is located in Zvonková (German: Glöckelberg ) in the municipality of Horní Planá (German: Oberplan ) in the Czech Republic near the Austrian border near Ulrichsberg . It belongs to the diocese of Budweis .

history

In 1785 a chapel was built in Glöckelberg, and construction of the first church began in 1788. Since it burned down in 1876, today's neo-Gothic church was built afterwards.

After 1945 the German-speaking population was expelled and the place was demolished. The church was in the restricted area and gradually fell into disrepair.

In memory of Glöckelberg, from 1960 to 1961 the expellees in the Ulrichsberg district of Schöneben near the border built the Schöneben Church for the Homeland by cathedral builder Gottfried Nobl .

After the political change in 1989, the Glöckelberg Church was accessible again. On the initiative of both Linz citizens Horst Wondraschek and Othmar Hanke, the church was extensively restored from 1990 to 1992. The Schlägl donated a bell.

Facility

The altar cross and the church window, with the representation of Father Engelmar Unzeit , were designed by the Linz painter Josef Fischnaller . The beatified Father Engelmar Unzeit was pastor in Glöckelberg from 1940 to 1941, he was murdered by the National Socialists. The panels of the 12 apostles on the gallery were painted by Ulrike Wondraschek.

Events

Annually there is a patronage celebration, pilgrimage, summer meeting and commemoration of the dead.
