Josef Fischnaller (painter)
Josef Fischnaller (born October 18, 1927 in Brixen , South Tyrol , † August 26, 2006 in Linz ) was an Austrian painter and sculptor .

Josef Fischnaller attended the arts and crafts school and then the art school of the city of Linz . Since 1954 he worked as a freelance sculptor and painter. In the early 1960s he founded the artist group Schableder. In 1965 he founded the Danube School Linz together with Fritz Aigner and Erich Ruprecht . He described himself as a Catholic Christian , but was charged with defamation by the Catholic Church for a pamphlet entitled Against the Stupidity of Christians . However, the ad was dropped. From 1970 he worked in the court cabinet in Linz. His main concern was to help ordinary people to own works of art in order to promote both education and wealth. Fischnaller created many sacred works, including a statue of St. Florian , which is owned by Pope Benedict XVI. is located.
