St. John the Baptist (Płock)
The Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist ( Kościół św. Jana Chrzciciela ) is located in the old town of Plotzk , right next to the seminary of the diocese of Plotzk .
The church was built between 1758 and 1771 in the late Baroque style and initially served as a place of worship for a Protestant community. The original furnishings from the 1770s included magnificent wood carvings that adorned the altars, confessionals and the pulpit, among other things. In the years 1773 to 1783 a cloister attached to the church was built.
In 1864 the Protestant community dissolved. Your church was taken over by the adjacent Catholic seminary. The church has been a Catholic parish church since 1973 .
In front of the church there is a bust of the Plotzker bishop Antoni Julian Nowowiejski .
