The church

The listed Protestant village church of St. Johannis is located in the Woffleben district of the town of Ellrich in the Nordhausen district in Thuringia .

history

The order of the Prussian king the Great Frederick Built in 1752 consecrated church overlooks the village with its still partially preserved churchyard wall . The keystone above the entrance gate therefore bears the initials FR.

To the church itself

The church has an idiosyncratic, well-intended floor plan . In the GDR the church was temporarily closed by the building authorities. Since around 1980 the church has been reopened for use after repairs.
