Chapel building St. Josef in Forsthofen

St. Josef is a Roman Catholic chapel in Forsthofen , Upper Swabia , a district of Ettringen . The simple building was built in 1885 by the Forsthofener farmers Joseph Fischer, Paulus Leimer and Joseph Kugelmann, presumably on the site of a wooden previous building from the first half of the 18th century on the grounds of the Barthlbauerhof. It is flat and has a three-sided ending. An arched window is set into the wall on each of the long sides. In the west there is an arched door. The building has a profiled eaves cornice . Above the west gable is a roof turret with a square base protruding on two round arches. The upper part is designed as an octagon , has arched openings in the east and west and has a rough profile cornice. The tail hood is covered with sheet metal.

The altar dates from the third quarter of the 19th century and is designed in the neo-Romanesque style. It is made of wood and has a closed arched painting that shows Saint Joseph with a model of the Roman St. Peter's Church in his hand. The stalls were probably created in the 18th century and are made of softwood with simple tail cheeks. The two wooden figures in the chapel are set. The Pietà was created around 1400 and has the folds in the so-called soft style. The overall upright posture is still held according to an older type. The version has been renewed. The crucifix probably dates from the first half of the 19th century and is designed in a popular style. Furthermore, there are two pyramid-shaped carved panels in the chapel, each with seven images of the stations of the cross . The panel paintings were created around 1800 and come from the parish church in Kirch-Siebnach .

The bell probably comes from the previous building and was cast by the Immenstädter Glockengießer Herz in 1816 .

The chapel was completely renovated in 1976. In the course of the renovation, a division was made.
