The village of Forsthofen is part of the Upper Swabian community of Ettringen in the Unterallgäu district in Swabia .

geography

Forsthofen is located about 500 meters north of Traunried on the state road 2027 between Hiltenfingen and Scherstetten .

history

Forsthofen is mentioned for the first time in 1441, the name goes back to a "Forsthof" which was subordinate to the Ammann von Schwabmünchen and thus the bishopric of Augsburg . In 1667 there were three farms in Forsthofen. In 1785 the Augsburg bishopric left the place to the Steingaden monastery . Around 1800 the manor and lower jurisdiction lay in Steingaden , the administration at the Obervogtamt Wiedergeltingen and the sovereign rights at the care court in Türkheim .

Attractions

The St. Josef Chapel is a chapel built in 1885 by three Forsthofener farmers with a Pietà from around 1400, which is a listed building.
