The Tagajõgi is a river in northeast Estonia .

description

Tagajõgi is 40 kilometers long. Its catchment area covers 262 km². Other names of the river are Liivoja (on the upper course), Mustasoo jõgi and Tudulinna jõgi .

The river has its source in Lake Tudu in the east of Lääne-Viru County . It then flows not far from the town of Mõisaküla into the Ida-Viru district and crosses the Tudulinna municipality , where it flows past the villages of Oonurme , Tagajõe and Tudulinna.

On the upper and middle reaches it flows through wooded area, while on the lower reaches there are agricultural landscapes. In dry summers, the upper and middle reaches of the river now carry little water, which has severely decimated the fish population.

The Tagajõgi flows into the Rannapungerja River ( Rannapungerja jõgi ), of which it is the largest tributary.

The river used to be rafted. There were numerous watermills, none of which have survived.
