geography

The St. Joseph River has its source on a promontory on the west coast of Dominica, En Bas Chute ( Mount Vernon ). It gets its name from the place of the same name, into whose settlement area it also flows. The river rises with two main streams in the summit area of the mountain, runs through Gorgona and Davis Estate and then enters the settlement area of St. Joseph, where it receives an inflow from the small Jordan River shortly before it flows into the Caribbean Sea .
