history
As early as 1910, the Camillian Order had a nursing home and an associated monastery built on this site. After the destruction in World War II , an emergency church was built in 1947 , which had to give way to today's Kamilluskirche in 1973. This was planned by the architect Wilhelm Schlombs and consecrated on September 8, 1973. Since the departure of the last fathers in 1997, it has been a branch church of the parish of St. Mary .
Furnishing
The interior of the church is reminiscent of a protective tent. The dominant colors are a warm red and orange, the dominant materials are the red clinker bricks, the wood of the ceiling and the stained glass of the windows. Together they create a feeling of security and protection. The windows created by Dieter Hartmann show the Way of the Cross in 14 stations . In the small tower hang two bells (camomile and Marienglocke), which were cast in 1973 by Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock .
Bible garden
A spacious Bible garden has existed around the church since 2010 . Many of the plants mentioned in the Gospels are planted there along with small signs that point to the relevant Bible passage.
