history
The Romanesque church of St. Katharina , built around 1200, was donated in 1268 by Ludolf, the Lord von Dyck , to the German Order Coming from Koblenz , who owned it until secularization . In 1865 the church was laid down except for the tower and the choir and a new church was built next to it. From then on, the old choir served as a sacristy, and a fourth floor with two arched windows on each side was added to the tower made of tuff .
The floor plan of the neo-Romanesque Katharinenkirche corresponds to a Greek cross and is inspired by Byzantine central buildings . In 1990 a new sacristy was added to the old Romanesque choir and the choir was converted into a sacrament chapel.
