The church

The Protestant village church of St. Katharinen is located in the Neuenmörbitz district of the Langenleuba-Niederhain community in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia .

history

Before the church was built in 1528 , there was a chapel on this site . From 1742 to 1743 the church received a spire in addition to structural changes . It was changed again in 1847. The stone pulpit is made of black marble at the altar . The font from 1847 is also made of this marble with an inscription. It has a domed lid.

In 1770 the church received an organ built by the Donati brothers from Glauchau . The 3 bells of the church were cast and reinforced in 1851 and each has an inscription.

From 1995 to 2000 a large-scale renovation took place around and in the church . In 2006 the next construction phase began with the repair of the church tower.
