St. Kilian (Schötmar)
St. Kilian is a Roman Catholic parish church in Schötmar , a district of Bad Salzuflen in the Lippe district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). Church and congregation belong to the pastoral association of Bad Salzuflen-Schötmar of the Dean's Office Bielefeld-Lippe in the Archdiocese of Paderborn .
history
After the Second World War , the community in Schötmar grew, mainly due to displaced persons from the eastern regions. This made a new building in Schötmar necessary. The church was built in 1953/54 according to plans by Josef Lucas . In 1993 the facade was subsequently clad with clinker bricks.
architecture
At the northern end of the south-facing church rise two towers without windows, which are connected by a gable roof. The entrance portals, a tracery rosette and the sound openings of the bell chamber are slightly set back.
The interior of the church is spanned by a beamed ceiling and is divided into six parts by pillars. The south wall of the rectangular chancel has a niche with a rectangular lintel that used to house the high altar.
Furnishing
In 1972 Liesel Bellmann created the altar , ambo and tabernacle . In 1983/84, Sister Erentrud Trost from Varensell Abbey installed the glazing and a tapestry with a depiction of St. Kilian here. In place of the former high altar, there is now a cross made in 1994 by the sculptors Gebrüder Winkelmann, the body of which is older.
