The Kilian's Church in Zittauer Straße 34 is one of the two Protestant village churches in Gispersleben in Thuringia . Their patron is St. Kilian .

history

The parish was first mentioned on March 20, 1143 in the documents of the Petersberg monastery in Erfurt as Kiliani-Gisbodisleybin . Like the Peterskloster and the city of Erfurt, it belonged to the diocese of Mainz . On April 5, 1375 Heinrich Beyer zu Boppard , cathedral dean of Mainz Archbishop Ludwig von Meißen , transferred the parish church of St. Kyliani in Gispirsleven to the priest Gunther von Wyhe until further notice . A Protestant pastor for the two parishes Kiliani and Viti can be proven in 1571.

The existing building of the Kilianikirche was built in stages after the great village fire of 1733 in place of the previous building. The tower was built in 1744. The nave with double gallery dates back to 1792. The late baroque pulpit altar dates from 1794. The Hesse - organ with the preserved original prospectus was inaugurated 1803rd In 1833 the chancel was lengthened like an apse .

In 1950 Gispersleben was incorporated into the city of Erfurt. 1974 to 1980 a large residential area in prefabricated construction for approx. 15,000 inhabitants was built on the former southern edge of the village, which was assigned to the Kiliani community by the church. In 1998 the Gisperslebener Viti and Kiliani communities merged.
