St. Laurentius is a Catholic church in Sandwig , a district of Glücksburg in Schleswig-Holstein .

Buildings and equipment

The building was constructed from 1962 to 1964. The main entrance to the church can be reached via the tower built in front of the church. A large crucifix hangs in the passage . The organ was built in 1990 by Bruno Christensen & Sons from Terkelsbüll . A wall-sized, French cathedral glass window with the elements and a Way of the Cross are part of the furnishings. The bells gis ', h' and c '' were cast by the Karlsruhe bell foundry in 1977 and 1993 . The concrete altar table stands on two massive round concrete pillars. The eternal light hangs above the tabernacle in a niche in the sanctuary.

Church history

After the Reformation , there were catholic services in Glücksburg only since 1926. Auxiliary clergy from Flensburg worked here until 1937 . From 1937 to 1945 services were held from Flensburg. The community became a pastoral care district in 1946, a curate in 1964 and a parish in 1976 . Due to structural changes in the archbishopric, the parish has belonged to the parish of St. Mary in pain in the dean's office in Flensburg since 2008 .
