description

building

The essentially Romanesque choir tower church with its semicircular apse dates from the third quarter of the 12th century. There is an arched keel slot in the middle floor of the tower, while large tracery windows are built into the bell floor . These are dated in inscriptions to the year 1508. The tall, slender helm of the tower dates from 1510 to 1511. The nave, which dates back to 1508, is raised in the late Gothic style. In the 18th century, the tall, rectangular, baroque windows were broken into the nave. Some of the walled-up Romanesque windows can still be seen. On the south side of the church there is a single-step column portal. In its tympanum a palmette decoration and cube capitals can be seen.

Interior and equipment

Multiple restored murals can be seen on the east side in the interior. Significant remains are dated to around 1200. In the apse, Christ can be seen in the mandorla, surrounded by angels. Below, on the side and above the apse arch there are saints, John the Baptist can still be recognized. Scenes from the life of Saint Sebastian can be seen on the south wall of the choir. The image fields are structured by palmette friezes.

Others

The church's bronze bell is dated to the early 14th century.
