The town church of St. Margarethen is in Kahla in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

The town church, which characterizes the cityscape, is located in the middle of the town, west of the Saalebogen , which has also been taken into account when guiding the railway line and the streets. The cemetery chapel is located in the cemetery on the western outskirts of the city on Bibraer Straße.

history

The town church stands on the walls of a defense complex of a castle, which lay on a 700 meter long plateau 25 meters above the hall level. In 1225 a pastor from Kahla was named in a document. After the city fire in 1410, the church was built on the ruins a. a. Share built. From 1791 to 1793 the town church was given its current appearance. In 1906 only the access to the choir was changed. War damage occurred in 1945, which could not be repaired until 1953–1955. The third gallery was also removed. The church has had a new heating system since 1992.
