history

The first considerations to build a church in the north of Detmold go back to 1948. In 1954 it was possible to acquire a piece of land, which was exchanged again at the request of the city.

The church was built between 1960 and 1961 according to plans by Otto Weicken . On February 4, 1962 consecrated Auxiliary Bishop Paul Nordhues the church.

architecture

The ground plan of the church has the shape of an isosceles triangle with an outwardly angled front wall. At the top is the tower under a pent roof.

Inside, the wooden five-part ceiling is visible. The stalls are in two blocks aligned with the altar.

Furnishing

The altar stone was created by Josef Rikus . The wall behind it is provided with a stone mosaic by Elisabeth Hoffmann-Lacher . Hubert Spierling designed the large-format stained glass windows.
