Josef Rikus (born February 28, 1923 in Paderborn ; † 1989 there ) was a German sculptor .

Life

After graduating from high school Theodorianum in Paderborn, he passed his Abitur in 1942. He studied philosophy for a few semesters after being released early as a soldier in Russia due to a serious wound .

Sculpture 1958 - Falling Angels - before the District Court of Münster / Westf.

During school he began to work as a sculptor. He continued this with a craft training with a stonemason . In 1946/47 he worked for the sculptor Eugen Senge-Platten in Siedlinghausen in the Sauerland.

From 1947 to 1953 he continued his training with Karl Knappe in Munich.

In 1959 he received the Culture Prize of the City of Paderborn.

  • 1958 Two concrete reliefs on the Liebfrauenkirche in Bad Salzuflen; there also tabernacle, altar, ambo, baptismal font
  • 1958 Slate sculpture - Falling Angels - made of three dominant elements, before the Münster District Court in November 1958

  • 1966 bronze sculpture of World Judges in the vestibule of the Resurrection Church in Bad Salzuflen
  • 1966 Group of steles at the Peter Weiss Comprehensive School, Unna
  • 1968 Together with the architect Heinz Buchmann and Wilhelm Nyssen, the church of the Catholic university community of the University of Cologne , the Church of Johannes XXIII.
  • 1969 facade of the Westfälische Kammerspiele , dismantled and stored in 2010.
