history

There was a neo-Gothic St. Mary's Church in Bückeburg since 1863 . In 1966 the building gave way to a modern church with a free-standing bell tower. St. Marien was the seat of the Dean's Office in Bückeburg. On September 1, 2012, the Bückeburg and Hameln-Holzminden deaneries were merged to form the Weserbergland deanery. The branch churches St. Josef, Obernkirchen, and St. Katharina, Auetal belong to the community .

Buildings and equipment

The hall church from 1966 with a flat roof was designed entirely in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council , but with rejection coolness and severity. In the mid-1990s, the interior of St. Marien was redesigned. The ornate wooden ceiling and the large cross on the altar wall are eye-catching. In the front right there is a relief image that comes from the branch church of St. Johannes Evangelist in Bad Eilsen, which was profaned in 2010.
