St. Martin

St. Martin is the oldest Catholic parish church in the Riem district of Munich .

history

It is said to have existed as a wooden building in the 10th century; it was part of the parish of Bogenhausen. A new stone building was built in the 12th century. In 1738 the church building was largely demolished and rebuilt. In that year an onion dome was erected on the church tower, but it burned down in 1863, after which the church tower was rebuilt in 1865 with only a simple pointed helmet . At the same time an organ was installed in the church . The church was badly damaged in World War II and rebuilt in the post-war years. The interior was redesigned. Nowadays it is a branch church of St. Peter and Paul in Trudering.

organ

The present organ dates from 1972. It was built by the company WRK-Orgelbau and has five registers.
