St. Martinus

The Roman Catholic village church of St. Martinus is located in the middle of the village Thalwend in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .

history

The date 1748 is engraved on the west portal , which probably indicates the completion of the new building. The windows are equipped with round arches and simple walls . The church has a pentagonal choir and a slated roof turret with a half-timbered gable on the western front. The roof turret has a French hood .

Internally

The interior of the baroque church is spanned by a flat plastered ceiling with plastered longitudinal beams . The stucco decoration is sparse and decorated with medallions showing the monogram of Christ and Mary . The altar is also decorated with a medallion. The figures Boniface and Martinus stand to one side . The confessional is in the wall niche . The cheeks are carved accordingly. Both bells are from more recent times.
