The Roman Catholic Church of St. Matthias , built in the neo-Gothic style, is located in Hohenbudberg am Rhein , a district of Krefeld .

It was first mentioned in 1150 in the form of a three-nave basilica with a three-story tower. The right of patronage had the abbey of Werden . In the years 1852-1854 the church was rebuilt according to plans by Vincenz Statz , whereby the Romanesque tower from the 12th century was preserved.

The elaborately carved shrine of the high altar dates from the third quarter of the 15th century and came to Hohenbudberg from the collegiate church in Lippstadt in 1854 . The shrine of the north side altar was built at the beginning of the 16th century and also comes from Westphalia. The wing paintings were made in 1855 by Andreas Müller , who belonged to the Düsseldorf school . The carved altar of the southern side altar from 1476 was largely renewed and acquired in Meinerzhagen in 1852 . The late Romanesque crucifix from around 1250 also comes from Westphalia .

Adjacent to the church is the associated cemetery with a view of the Rhine .
