St. Michael in Harlanden

The St. Michael branch church is the Catholic village church of Harlanden (Upper Bavaria). A new building took place in 1678. When it was consecrated in 1709, the chapel was given the patronage of St. Michael.

description

The altar painting shows the archangel Michael fighting with the dragon; it comes from 1758 from a "CF" in Neustadt an der Donau . After the secularization in 1803, two farmers saved the church from demolition by buying it. In 1812 the church was repaired and the turret with dome moved from west to east; the bell was cast by Michael Duval in Ingolstadt in 1787 . In 1826 a new way of the cross came into the church, painted "with excellent precision and convenience" by the painter Fröhlich in Vohburg. The altarpiece of St. Leonhard on the right side altar is probably older than the main altarpiece.
