St. Michael (Fröhlins)
The Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Michael is located in Fröhlins , a district of Ottobeuren in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . The chapel is a listed building .
Building description
The chapel was built in 1715 according to a plan by P. Christoph Vogt. The inauguration took place in 1729. In 1808 the chapel became a hunting lodge. It was not until 1852 that the building was renovated and re-equipped as a chapel. The St. Michaelskapelle is located about 500 meters east of the hamlet Fröhlins on an elevation in the middle of a castle stable . It is therefore also called the Buschel Chapel . The building is an octagonal plastered structure. This is covered inside with a flat ceiling and provided with oval windows. A gallery is attached to the west side above the entrance. There is a lantern on the dome roof , which is covered with an onion hood.
Furnishing
Inside there is a modern altar . There is also a so-called Ecce Homo in the form of a painting and a wooden figure of a crucifix from the 18th century in the chapel .
