St. Nicolai (Braschwitz)
St. Nicolai is a listed Protestant church in the Braschwitz district of the city of Landsberg in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 55044 . It belongs to the parish Hohenthurm in the parish of Halle-Saale district of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
General and history
The church is located at Brunnenstrasse 22 in Braschwitz and is a typical Romanesque church for the area with a massive west transverse tower. Bricks on the doors and window openings indicate a renovation that also affected the nave , and the tower also seems to have been raised. Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of the church .
Outdoor area
On the site of the church there are numerous baroque tombstones, as well as a bell and the war memorial for those who died in the First World War in the place.
War memorial
The war memorial for the fallen of World War I is on the outside of the east wall of the church. It is a plaque with the names of the fallen, decorated with a soldier's helmet with oak leaves .
