St. Nikolaus (Bad Kreuznach)
The St. Nikolauskirche is a Catholic parish church in Bad Kreuznach . The church was originally the Carmelite monastery church .
history
In 1260 the Counts of Sponheim donated the Nikolauskapelle. In 1266, Werner von Eppstein , the Archbishop of Mainz, and the Bishops of Speyer asked the faithful in a letter of indulgence from the community to help with the construction. Count Johann von Sponheim donated the chapel to the Carmelite Order in 1281.
After 1290 the chapel was redesigned to become today's Nikolauskirche. The construction took place according to the requirements of the architecture of the mendicant order. In the 19th century, the demolition of the church was considered, which was not approved by the Prussian Ministry of Culture. From 1898 to 1904 it was completely renovated and a church tower was added. All glass windows were created by the Frankfurt glass painter Alexander Linnemann .
organ
There is evidence of an organ dating back to 1474. When the church received its baroque interior in the first quarter of the 18th century, a new organ was also installed. Information about the organ builder is not available. The organ was sold and moved to Ravengiersburg Abbey in 1897/1898 , where the prospectus has been preserved. Michael Körfer built a new organ in 1903, which was expanded by Hans Klais in 1932 (III / P / 37). In the course of the church renovation, the organ was dismantled and stored at the organ building company Oberlinger (Windesheim). In 1985 the company installed a new organ with eleven stops on two manuals and a pedal .
Today's instrument was built by Oberlinger in 2003. The slider chest instrument has 24 registers on two manuals and pedal, as well as two effect registers. The playing and stop actions are mechanical.
