history

Almost two years after the groundbreaking on June 15, 1902, the church was completed in the neo-Gothic style with an 85 m high tower. The first organ was built in 1908 and replaced by a new one in 1929, the largest in Hamborn. Renovation work was necessary twice, namely in 1920 and 1929, due to major damage caused by subsidence .

The church was almost completely destroyed by air raids during World War II in August and October 1944. The reconstruction was completed at the end of 1956.

The church has been extensively renovated since 2007. In the course of this, the interior of the church was supplemented. Among other things, the artist Horst Schneider created a five-part picture cycle about the life of St. Norbert.

On November 10, 2019, the Russian Orthodox parish in Duisburg moved from the Church of Our Lady in Duisburg- Bruckhausen to the Church of St. Norbert.
