The parish church of St. Peter and Paul is a Roman Catholic church in Markt Moosbach in the south of the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt adWaldnaab . It is the parish church of the same Catholic parish , which the Dean Leuchtenberg of the diocese Regensburg belongs. The patronage is on June 29th.
history
Even before the place was first mentioned in 1166, Moosbach was a parish. The parish area has hardly changed since then. In 1738 the pastor Schmelzer had a baroque church built because the old church was too small. Schmelzer is also the builder of the Wieskirche in nearby Moosbach. The baroque parish church was destroyed in a fire in 1848, as was the rectory, the elementary school and many other buildings in the village. This fire also destroyed many works of art. The church was rebuilt in 1853 on its old site.
The church was renovated in 2016–2017. On May 17, 2017, during electrical work in the roof, a fire broke out in the connecting roof between the church tower and the nave, but this did not cause any serious damage.
Furnishing
The interior is designed in a baroque style. In the middle of the three statues on the altar wall is St. Emmeram , one of the patrons of the Diocese of Regensburg. It is flanked by statues of the two church patrons Peter and Paul . The modern work of art around the tabernacle depicts the burning bush . The people's altar was consecrated together with the ambo and baptismal font on March 18, 1976 by Auxiliary Bishop Karl Flügel von Regensburg.
The organ has 20 registers and was built in 1982 by the company Weise from Plattling. During the interior renovation in 1989, the window arches were decorated with pictures.
Peal
The ring consists of five bronze bells. They hang on the top floor in the bell tower. The bells were cast in 1970 by the Perner bell foundry in Passau. They replace a steel bell from Bochum. The big bell is cast in a major rib.
