history

There is evidence of a wooden chapel in Schwerstedt as early as 802 . It was replaced by a stone chapel in 1150 and a church with a tower in 1450. In 1765 the tower was demolished and the current church was built between 1766 and 1772. It is very spacious and has a large choir room . The rooms are plastered or painted white. Golden rococo ornaments decorate the pulpit from 1735. The baptismal frame was purchased in 1740.

In 1978 a community room was built into one of the galleries . Extensive restorations were carried out between 1982 and 1998.
