The church

The Evangelical Church of Peter and Paul , the church of the district Großwechsungen the town of Werther in the district of Nordhausen in Thuringia . The former fortified church is located on a shallow western hill on the original western edge of the place Großwechselungen.

history

The defense tower was built around the 11th century. In 1517 the tower was extended by four corner towers, which face the settlements of Unkenrode, Kleibingen, Lengenfeld and Wiesstädt , which fell devastated in the Thirty Years War .

In 1705 the nave was added and expanded in 1837 due to the growing population.
