The Evangelical Church of St. Petri is a neo-Gothic hall church in Luckenwalde , a town in the Teltow-Fläming district in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Zossen Fläming the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The Frankenstraße located in the city center and branches there by the Brandenburger Strasse to the south from. Petrikirchstrasse leads from the east . The church stands southeast of this intersection on a piece of land that is fenced in with a wall .

history

Due to the economic boom, the population of Luckenwald rose sharply towards the end of the 19th century. On the initiative of the superintendent Zander, craftsmen built a new church for the new district in the west of the city. The foundation stone was laid on September 14th, 1890, the inauguration ceremony on May 28th, 1892. After several renovations, an extension was added to mark the 100th anniversary in 1992, which serves as a community center and event location.

Building description

The building consists essentially of reddish brick . The western facade is richly decorated. In the center is a large, ogival panel into which a pressed segment arched portal is embedded. Four ogival diaphragms rise above it, followed by three ox eyes . On both sides of the portal there is a small and an elongated panel with two ogival windows and an ox-eye above. A cornice separates the gable from the building, with two narrow panels on each side, followed by another cornice. The large pointed arch window above stands in the middle of two other pointed arched windows. A roof turret with a tower ball and cross crowns the building.

Furnishing

The church furnishings are described in a church guide as "simple". This includes an offering box from the 16th century.
