The Catholic parish church of St. Petrus Canisius is a listed church building in Alzenbach , a village in the municipality of Eitorf in the Rhein-Sieg district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The parish of Eitorf belongs to the Archdiocese of Cologne.

History and architecture

The church is subordinate to the patronage of the Holy Doctor of the Church Peter Canisius . The quarry stone building with a slim facade tower was built in 1927. The ogival wooden vault rises from the floor. The building was built according to plans by a master builder Brodesser . The building is a characteristic example of expressionism in church architecture. In 2010 the independent parish of Alzenbach was merged with the other parishes of Mühleip and Eitorf and placed under the name "Pastoral Care Area St.Patricius".

Furnishing

  • The window in the choir was created by the famous painter Jan Thorn Prikker .
  • The unmounted wooden crucifix dates from the second half of the 15th century.
  • The Rosary Madonna in a medallion was created at the beginning of the 18th century.
