In 1819 a school was built in Alzenbach, which the children from the settlements on the right bank of the Sieg also had to attend.

The parish church is a modern building. In 1909 a chapel association was founded that collected money for the building. Two plots of land were donated and an amount was collected that corresponds to the current value of 40,000 euros, but which was consumed by the inflation after the First World War . In 1924, however, the construction of a rectory could begin and be completed the following year. Construction began on the church in June 1926. The stones were brought in from the Unkelmühle quarry in horse-drawn vehicles. On April 3, 1927, the new church of St. Petrus Canisius was consecrated by Dechant Lapp, but the final completion of the construction work continued until 1930.

The three bells were brought to Alzenbach on May 1, 1927 and consecrated. In 1942 the two big bells had to be given up due to the war. On the largest one read as an inscription: I am called Canisius and shout out loud to Siegerland (,) stand firm in faith at all times () do not forget eternity .

In 1953 the parish rectorate Alzenbach became an independent parish. The church was renovated from 1961 to 1966. A free-standing altar was also built in, so that the church could be consecrated on December 17, 1966. At the ceremony by Auxiliary Bishop Augustinus Frotz , relics of St. Gereon of Cologne , Ursula of Cologne and Gabriel von Ferrara were also buried.

In addition to the current parish church, there is also the Im Auel chapel in the formerly independent district of Halfterfähre and a chapel in the center. The chapel there was already described as falling apart in 1582, which speaks for an already old age.
