Filial church St. Philipp and Jakob in Wischenhofen

The Roman Catholic branch church of St. Philipp and Jakob is located in the Wischenhofen district of Duggendorf in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg in Bavaria (Kapellenweg 1).

history

The church was the castle church of Wischenhofen Castle . In the Thirty Years War it was destroyed and re-erected in the late 17th century. The builders are Wolf Heinrich Drechsel auf Teufstetten († 1706) and his wife Katharina von Teufstetten († 1717).

Structure and equipment

The church is a Satteldachbau with a rounded apse and a roof turret , which is covered with a pointed tower. There are three axes on the side wall, and two ox eyes are attached to the apse side. The church is connected to the castle through a window; the west gallery was previously accessible directly from the castle. The nave has a flat roof, on the south side the ceiling rests on cantilevered segmental arches that sit on corbels .

The altar dates from around 1700. It has a top with four turned columns. There are shell niches to the left and right. The main character is Our Lady as Patrona Bavariae . On the right is her father, St. Joachim , and on the left her mother, St. Anna , pictured (around 1600). The frame comes from the Regenstauf painter and gilder Franz Wagner, it was renewed in 1914 by the Taufkirchen painter Peter Keilhacker. On the side walls, late Gothic figures of St. Barbara (around 1480) and St. Josef exhibited. The ceiling picture shows the two church patrons, St. James and St. Philip . The ceiling painting dates from the 20th century, as is a Way of the Cross painted on metal panels .

The gravestones of the founding couple and that of their son, Baron Wolfgang Balthasar von Teufstetten, lieutenant colonel in the Electoral Palatinate , are in the chapel. All are equipped with coats of arms and framed with acanthus . The inscriptions read:
