The parish church of St. Remigius is a Catholic church building in Viersen .

history

Already in Carolingian times in the 8th / 9th A stone church was built in Viersen in the 17th century. It was a Franconian hall church that was converted into a three-aisled Romanesque pillar basilica around 1181. From the 14th century, the church began to be converted into an early Gothic church.

Today's late Gothic church was built in 1484.

The organ was built in 1984 by the organ builder Gerald Woehl . The slider chest instrument has 52 registers , which are distributed over four manuals and pedal . The playing and register actions are mechanical.

Peal

Seven bells hang on the top floor of the tower of St. Remigius. Most of these date from the 20th century: the "Remigius bell" (5110 kg), the "Christ the king bell" (1500 kg), the "St. Michael Bell “(1370 kg) was cast in 1953. The three “angel bells” date from 1926 and 1953. The smallest bell was cast in 1506 by Johann van Venlo.
