St. Sebastian (Lichtenhain)
The Protestant Church of St. Sebastian is located in the Lichtenhain district of the city of Gräfenthal in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .
history
The existing today church is in the period 1703-1714 as a Baroque church was built, as well as the year 1714 the weathervane occupied. There is little evidence of the previous church, such as the year 1541 on church bills. It is said to have stood before the Reformation .
To the church itself
The baroque design can be found in the interior in the galleries , the ceiling, the walls as well as the church stalls and the pulpit altar together with the coloring.
The organ occupies an unusual position on the gallery to the left above the chancel . The baptismal angel from around 1750 is one of six surviving figures in the area.
Numerous representations of angels decorate the room.
The pulpit and altar are connected to each other and are decorated with a picture of the Lord's Supper . The ceiling painting is dedicated to the Trinity .
There are two bells in the church . One is from 1761. The small bell was purchased after the war in 1945.
