St. Thomas More (Cologne)
The St. Thomas More Church is a Catholic church in Cologne district of Lindenthal .
The church dedicated to Thomas More was built from 1962 to 1963 according to the plans of the Cologne architect Fritz Schaller .
The church consists of a steeple in the form of a folding helmet rising from the ground, which is connected to the rest of the church building by a single-storey building and characterizes the townscape. On the ground floor of the tower there is a Lady Chapel with a Madonna from the early Gothic period . The church has a square base and is reminiscent of a large gable tent. It is divided into a weekday church and the main nave. In the gable there is a large gable window with the triangle as a symbol for the Trinity .
The two altars are by Elmar Hillebrand , who also designed the tabernacle and the font .
The organ was built in 1966 by Johannes Klais Orgelbau . It has 19 stops on two manual works and a pedal .
