The church

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Trinitatis is located in the community of Roßdorf in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

history

In 1461, the previous church was certified as being demolished because it was in disrepair. No information was given about the age. It was not even possible to provide precise information about the location of the previous facility.

The current church is a baroque style building . Its construction time is documented from 1682 to 1733. Parts are said to have been created around 1566. The year numbers also confirm artistic forms. The ogival door and windows are evidence of this time.

The interior of the church shows materials from several eras . The barrel and gallery balustrades were painted. Figures from the Old and New Testament are depicted in the fields of the gallery parapet. Even the ceiling is painted with Christian motifs. The organ was installed in 1912. The pulpit is beautifully decorated. The font dates from 1674. The tower clock is from the 17th century.

The Bavaria monument

The Bavaria Monument is surrounded by trees and commemorates the fallen Bavarian soldiers in the German War of 1866.
