St. Ulrich (Braidbach)

The Roman Catholic Kuratiekirche St. Ulrich is the village church of the Bavarian Braidbach , a district of the municipality of Bastheim in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld . It is one of the architectural monuments in Bastheim and is registered under the number D-6-73-116-18 in the Bavarian list of monuments . Braidbach is part of the Besengau parish community .

The church is dedicated to St. Ulrich von Augsburg .

history

Braidbach was looked after by the Wechterswinkel Monastery . The church's altar was consecrated as early as 1577. After the dissolution of the Wechterswinkel monastery, the protective mantle Madonna in the church, a wooden relief created around 1590/1600, became a popular pilgrimage destination and a model for numerous wayside shrines in the Braidbach area. Today's church was built when it was enlarged in 1715. In 1999 the interior was renovated for the last time.

Description and equipment

The church is a hall building with a roof turret . In the middle of the high altar is the Madonna in protective cloak.
