The Catholic branch church of St. Ulrich is the last remaining building of the original Königswiesen, which stands today in the forest south of the town of Königswiesen on the slope edge above the Mühlthal . The core of the church is a late Gothic, small hall building . It is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.

building

On the roof of the west gable it has an attached turret, which initially has a square cross-section and merges into an octagon at the top. The building was rebuilt in the 18th century, the baroque onion dome dates from this time . Inside there is now a simple figure of St. Ulrich and a restored picture of the donor. The coats of arms of the former feudal lords of Königswiesen are attached to the choir arch, the rest of the furnishings are lost.

This church in Königswiesen has been documented since 1524, and it probably had a previous building.

The chapel is the last remnant of the former Königswiesen settlement, which today (the settlement was closed in 1865) is a desert. Today's place Königswiesen (previously: Hauser Berg) is now north of it.

Patronage

Altar with picture of St. Ulrich

Despite the patronage of St. Ulrich of Augsburg, the church today belongs to the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising . The border to the diocese of Augsburg runs from Starnberg along the Würm to the north, so that the little church on the western high bank would actually belong to Augsburg. However, the diocese border turns exactly around Ortisei. The history of Königswiesen with its long ownership by the Diocese of Freising can serve as an explanation. On the other hand, the patronage indicates that there were also Augsburg influences.
