St. Valentin Church in Thonstetten

The St. Valentin branch church is the Roman Catholic village church of Thonstetten , a district of Moosburg an der Isar in Upper Bavaria . Saint Valentine has been named as the namesake of the church since 1403 .

A church in Thonstetten was first mentioned in 830, when the archpriest Rubo had a new church built on the site of a previous building. It was consecrated by the Freising Bishop Hitto . The current building dates from the 13th century and has Gothic elements in the core . In the 15th century a choir and a tower were added to the nave .

The interior of the church was refurbished in the neo-Gothic style between 1880 and 1890 .

The branch church is assigned to the parish of St. Kastulus in Moosburg an der Isar.
