St. Veit (Oberpreilipp)
The Protestant village church of St. Veit is in the Oberpreilipp district of the city of Rudolstadt in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .
history
This church was built in the Byzantine style in 1090 and was one of the oldest churches in the Rudolstadt area. It became a pilgrimage church because, according to legend, St. Anthony died and was buried here on a missionary trip .
Little has been preserved of the historical substance of the church. Partially demolished in 1862, the church tower with carved altars and a late Romanesque holy water kettle remained . The latter is exhibited in the Saalfeld City Museum.
