St. Vincentius village church

The Protestant Church of St. Vincentius is the village church of Grumbach , a district of the Thuringian health resort Bad Langensalza in the Unstrut-Hainich district .

The church dates from 1607. This can also be read on a sundial on the south side of the nave. The previous building, which was located in the same place, was destroyed by a lightning strike.

The tower is crowned by a slate-covered dome with a lantern and an attached golden tower ball . Under a dormer in the hood, a white dial shows the time in a southerly direction. Two bells hang in the belfry, which sound their sound through four sound arcades in all directions. A wooden staircase covered with red beaver- tail roof tiles on the southwest corner of the tower leads to its first floor. From there it goes over a narrow staircase to the belfry . On the east side of the tower that includes geostete nave of which is slightly wider than the tower. Its saddle roof is covered with red tiles, as is the three-sided choir extension with the small sacristy that ends towards the east . Daylight illuminates the church building through four pointed arch windows on the south side, two similar windows on the north side and two choir windows. On the north side of the ship is an unadorned cross about four meters high. A memorial in front of the south facade commemorates the soldiers who died or went missing in the wars. In 2008 and 2009, the tower was renovated and given a new tower button . The main part of the cemetery is to the north of the church.

You enter the interior of the church through a door under the tower staircase, which leads to the basement of the tower, where another door allows entry into the nave. Here the visitor is received by a small winter church . The interior impresses with its well-kept degree of preservation. The three-sided gallery has beautifully designed fields. The organ loft rises above it with an openwork wooden railing . A wooden barrel vault with narrow panels closes the church hall at the top.

The balcony-like parapet of the gothic pulpit altar in the middle of the choir wall is decorated with the same fields as the gallery. The sound cover as a Gothic roof and the pulpit are equipped with various Gothic style elements. The altar in front of it is rather plain. The prospectus of the intact organ as well as the pointed arch shape of the church windows are kept in Gothic style . The simple colored glazing seems to be modern.
