history

Schwabsdorf had been owned by the Oldisleben monastery since 1136 , whose abbot was the patron of the church that had existed in the Middle Ages. Today's church, whose weather vane bears the year 1780, goes back to a baroque choir tower church , which fell into ruins in 1991. The local population took the redevelopment into their own hands.

The church tower (with slate storey , tail hood and high lantern ) was dismantled in 1992 and rebuilt. The nave got a new roof and in 1994 interior work began. Four years later the belfry was renovated. The bell was raised. In 1999, the shaft and plastering work began in the nave. The tower clock was installed. From 2000 onwards, the galleries , the front of the stairs and the roof were renewed. Later it was the turn of the lights, the benches and the hall. In 2004 the church could be consecrated again.
