St. Wigberti (Niederzimmer)
The Protestant village church of St. Wigberti is located in Niederzimmer , a district of Grammetal in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . It is in the western part of the village.
history
Until 1852 Niederzimmer owned two churches. The Bonifatius Church in the Upper Village and the Wigberti Church in the Lower Village. In 1854 the Bonifatius Church was demolished.
Wigberti Church
Construction of the fortified church began in 1375 and ended in 1450. In 1617/18 the parish rebuilt the church. In 1800 a radical redesign of the Gothic building began again, which resulted in today's overall appearance of the church .
particularities
The pulpit altar is designed in detail in the peasant baroque from 1719 and a picture gallery of the Old and New Testaments in the galleries . The Eifert organ from 1907 has been renovated.
