description

St Andrew's East Church stands at the confluence of the Easter Craigs and Alexandra Parade ( A8 ) in east Glasgow. The neo-Gothic building interprets the Perpendicular Style in the sense of the Arts and Crafts movement . Its masonry consists of embossed stone blocks with polished details. On the south-facing front facade, two short, blunt towers with massive pseudo battlement reinforcement flank the central entrance portal. Above the portal, a wide window opens behind a round arch . A small ridge with the bell sits on the arch . Buttresses run along the sides of the nave . The interior is more simple with a flat barrel vault .

Community Hall

The parish hall is directly to the right of the church. It is a one-story Art Nouveau building with four unadorned, small-scale stained glass windows along the street that close with Tudor arches . The two corner projections are sculptured in detail in Art Nouveau style. The entrance portal is on the left risalit. On the gable of the final gable roof sits a small roof turret with an open bell.
