history

In 1792 the church building was demolished and the following year today's St Fergus's Church was built. The Strathmore Aisle, as a preserved fragment of the old transept, has served as a mausoleum for the Earls of Strathmore, who reside at Glamis Castle . In 1933 St Fergus's Church was renovated. On May 6, 1934, the church was consecrated to Saint Fergus . Gordon Webster created a stained glass window in 1969 .

description

The church building forms the northern end of Glamis. It is designed in a relatively simple way with a simple classicist bell tower. The masonry consists of stone roughly hewn into blocks. All openings in the building are rounded . To the side and the east facade of the church hall are tracery admitted. On the west side, at the foot of the tower, is the main portal with a deep archivolt . The tower, which tapers in four sections, has a square base. From the third section the tower is octagonal . A pointed helmet sits above the surrounding arched arcade .

The 15th century Strathmore Aisle was redesigned in the 17th century. The masonry of the remains of the Tudor Gothic church consists of red sandstone blocks . The windows close with segment or Tudor arches . On the south facade there is a sundial installed in 1771 below a tracery . A black marble plaque on the west side is framed by Corinthian columns.
