The St Patrick's Stream or Patrick Stream is a tributary of the Thames in England . It flows into the River Loddon at Wargrave in Berkshire , which itself flows into the Thames again. St Patrick's Stream branches off the Thames near Buck Ait Island .
It is believed that the watercourse was originally a tributary of the Thames that branched off from the River Loddon. However, when the Shiplake Lock was built, the water level rose so much that it became a drain. This assumption is supported by a 13th century charter which reads: “Where the Lodone falls into the Thames under the park of Suninges”. The point is that the watercourse is privately owned and not a public part of the Thames. It is also the shape of the connection that makes an inflow rather than an outflow likely.
