history

The earliest mention of a church building at this location comes from the year 1208. This building, which was assigned to Paisley Abbey from 1238 , probably fell into disrepair in the 13th century. In the post-Reformation period, Alan Cathcart, 4th Lord Cathcart, initiated the construction of today's church. This was built in 1595. Both in 1767 and 1825, the St Quivox Parish Church was expanded.

description

The building is in the middle of the surrounding churchyard in the center of St Quivox. The façades of the asymmetrical building partially show exposed brickwork made of sandstone blocks , while other parts are plastered with Harl . The entrance area is on the east side. The interior largely corresponds to the revision from 1767.

mausoleum

The mausoleum was built for James Campbell in 1822 . As the architect, William Henry Playfair was responsible for the design in the Greek Revival style . The edges of the square sandstone building are designed with paired Doric columns. They wear a frieze with triglyphs . With the exception of the west side, all sides have entrance portals with iron grilles and architraves .
