profile

The state evening grammar school St. Georg with integrated evening school (formerly Abendhauptschule and Abendrealschule) specializes in the training and further education of young, mostly working adults. Committed to the principle of equal opportunities, the St. Georg Evening High School in Hamburg, with its Abendreal and Abendhauptschule as a school for adults, offers the opportunity to acquire all general educational qualifications in three different training courses. Transitions between the school types are possible. The secondary school leaving certificate (first general education qualification), the secondary school qualification (intermediate general education qualification), the technical college entrance qualification and the Abitur can be acquired in free lessons. Lessons take place mainly in the evenings. Requirements for registration are reaching the age of eighteen, evidence of previous school attendance, depending on the type of school and, in the case of the Abitur, two years of professional activity.

The range of subjects is more limited than at a conventional day school. In addition to the subjects German, mathematics and English, the evening school also offers the learning fields of work and profession, natural sciences and technology and social sciences. The subjects biology, chemistry, theater, German, English, French, geography, history, Latin, mathematics, PGW (politics, history, economics), philosophy, physics, psychology, Spanish and economics are taught at the evening grammar school. In the upper level of the grammar school, different profiles are offered, tailored to different learning interests and strengths. These are in detail: Biology - History, History - Biology, PGW - Biology, Physics - Geography, Geography - Biology.
